Cindy's intimate knowledge, genuine respect, and deep love for the rural lifestyle and the commitment it entails traces back to her childhood where she was raised and educated in Middleburg - attending The Hill School, Foxcroft, and The University of Virginia. On her family's horse farm, hard work was formative. There were plenty of early mornings mucking stalls and caring for horses, late afternoons mowing, and all nighters helping watch mares during foaling season. But farm life also brought hours of cross country riding, picking flowers and wild berries, fishing the pond, and endless hide-and-seek with her siblings and cousins. Among Cindy's most cherished childhood memories are helping her grandmother, the "Bluebird Lady," maintain bluebird boxes which included monitoring the hatchlings and driving the "bunny trail" with her parents, where she and her siblings counted rabbits. An active farm life fostered her love and commitment to country living and the importance of being a steward of the land and all its creatures.
Cindy continues to live her dream as she and her family enjoy caring for their horses, assortment of chickens, geese, ducks, and dogs. She tends prolific pollinator and vegetable gardens and continues her grandmother's legacy by maintaining bluebird boxes. A former board member of The Piedmont Environmental Council and founding member of The Route 50 Corridor Coalition, in her free time you'll find Cindy gardening, trail riding or fishing, enjoying her family and menagerie of animals, and exploring the backroads and open spaces she works hard to protect and share.
